Shadow of Dallas -The Background

In the shadowlands, the city of Dallas is a Hierarchy-controlled Necropolis like so many, many others. The population of restless souls is estimated by the Hierarchy to be around 600, renegade gangs and heretic cults included. The population is surprisingly varied, only about 75% of the estimated inhabitants swearing loyalty to Stygia’s rule and the Hierarchy. Purges are routinely performed by the legions when the collection of souls has been low, but in general the Hierarchs are content to let the unaffiliated wraiths in the city exist without expending a lot of effort in trying to find them.

The published setting for Wraith: The Oblivion applies in full to the world in which Shadow of Dallas takes place. However, the remainder of the official World of Darkness does not. Maybe there are werewolves and vampires out there, maybe there aren't. Check with the Storyteller if you have a supernatural element outside of Wraith you would like to include in your stories.

Note: The information in the Hierarchy section is intended mainly for players familiar with Wraith, and whose characters have existed as part of the Hierarchy for a while, as it is not common knowledge. All are welcome to read it, of course, but only players with in-character knowledge should use it as such. The game takes place before the events detailed in the ‘Ends of Empire’ book, although things are indeed looking grim for Stygia…
