As the black form vanished from the window, I breathed a light sigh of relief. Or rather, I would have, if I still breathed. Though I was troubled by this apparition and what I thought it could mean for my fellow wondering spirit and his obviously important living friend, I was glad that the thing had left, if at least only for now. The street suddenly seemed a great deal colder, and I realized that I should be leaving, at least to find a familliar place to haunt rather than simply hanging about here all night. With a final look up at the window, I too vanished into the darkness, granted in a much less unsettling way.
