Are Sin <Wages, Part Three>

He was covered in sweat, shivering, both frozen and burning up, and the thick, slow pulse of his heartbeat, thudding through his head brought instant nausea.  He gently nosed his way out from under.. nothingness.  He could just barely hear Cassey breathing, and knew they were there; he staggered over to the corner, vomiting, wrinkling his nose in disgust at the stench.

Voices.. his ears perked, listening.
Tamara?  He took a few steps out of the crevice, eager to run and meet her, then faltered, listening to Hunts and she argue with one another.

"NO!! NO LAST SIN!!! Little Alpha try force my Paw? Play game and you lost! GO! Go and sin whole sept into Wyrm's maw..You no happy till we all BLACK SPIRAL DANCERS!!??!?!"

They were fighting over him?  He leaned against the cave wall for support, the blackness rising up to reclaim him.

"If you weren't so Fucking important!...you break my heart and his without a care..Tell him..you know about Cassey and Canth..Tell him what you have made me promise..tell him..it was for the pack..tell him..I'm Sorry..Tell him all we have spoken of..Tell him..oh Fuck you...you do what you must..learn from the others."

His heart pounded, sides expanding and contracting as if doing double duty as a giant bellows for the flame consuming him, outside in.  Tamara.. please.. no.. don't leave me.  I'm not strong enough to survive alone.

He watched the russet wolf dart into the woods, and started off after her, but stumbled, diving nose first into the dirt.  He tasted blood, laying there on his side, breathing through dirt.  He couldn't muster the will to care, the snarl frozen on his face, lips peeled back from his canines.

Something gave in his chest, a warm, wet tearing sensation, and he laughed.  He watched Hunts for a while, unable to move, then rose quietly, returning to Canth.  He could not see her, but sensed she was within.

Mother? If you love me, answer.

His head tilted, as if listening to something only he could hear, a bright, viscous rapacity  glowing in his eyes.
