Overall Layout

A system of bomb shelters beneath the storm drain system under Dallas provides the framework for the Nosferatu Kingdom.  Decorated with an elaborate, almost twisting array of brick walls to cover up the ingot-reinforced steel Walls of each room and corridor.  Electric lights, tapping directly into the city’s power system, illuminates this Lightless world dimly with hanging bare bulbs, and gruesome, winged gargoyles of a few famous Nosferatu Adorn each corner of each room and each turn of a tunnel.  Cobwebs “grace” the ceilings and walls, ankle-deep trash and skeletons litter everything, rats and insects run amuck, and pestilence reigns supreme unless otherwise noted.  Sculptures provided by Spencer Sinton, a Toreador artiste, and brickwork provided by Adam, A Nosferatu architect.  Each room has false doorways the lock and close the secret doors if someone tries to open

1     Outer corridors

From each permanent haven to the outside world is a non-descript, concrete tunnel that leads to an access ladder up toward the storm drains.  Each one is relatively clean and unlit, so as to not draw suspicion, generally because they are not lived in, and each door leading into a haven is activated by a secret switch of some sort.

2         Inner corridors

Trash tends to be kicked to the sides in this room, creating a shallow trench for walking.  Capped on both ends by secret doors and lit (usually) by a single hanging bulb, it is quite simple to entrap an intruder in a corridor if they should become “lucky” enough to enter each.

3         Guest rooms

Each room is relatively neater (after all, a guest should be allowed to trash his/her own room in his/her own unique way), and contains tapped plumbing, tapped electricity, a bed, television, stereo, and quite a bit of storage space.

4         Grand Hall

This immense room is lined by four marble columns on each lengthwise side and three columns on each widthwise side, each containing a set of blood-stained shackles.  Neat the center of the room are grimy 70’s couches and sofas, where the Nosferatu gather for gossip.  Off to one corner is a deep well that seems to predate the bomb shelter system’s building, and is called the Demon Tunnel.  All attempts to enter and explore it have met with disappearances, and it is rumored that something monstrous resides within the ancient, stone-lined well.  As a general rule, the Nosferatu simply avoid it.

6         Rachel’s Lair

Inside is a messy, cluttered place, filthy and home to a dozen rats visible at any time. It contains a television, a massive computer system, stereo with a large collection of cds, cassettes,. 8-tracks, and records, as well as a small collection of relatively unread books. A secret, one-way hatch leads out to another section of the sewers and is used only during emergencies. A small table with three chairs sits in the northwest corner, the couch in the southwest, a tv in the northeast, and a bed in the southeast, all in worn and faded condition, but usable. The clutter is generally composed of junk, be they comic books, stolen knickknacks, and any object she forgot to put away. Dried blood and skin graces the walls, ceiling, and floor, and is fed upon by the local vermin. As a result, they are indirectly blood bound to her and have indeed developed a taste for her vitae and are trained to attempt to wake her if anything man-sized enters, as well as to let her know if anything man-sized besides herself enters when she is gone. A ceiling fan constantly rotates, circulating the stuffy air, and pictures adorn the stone walls of sunny landscapes.

7         Adam’s Sanctuary

Stacks of moldy, leather-bound books teeter high here, creating a narrow maze that nearly none can pass through.  Scattered all over the room are the dusted remains of Adam, the Nosferatu architect who originally created the brickwork for the tunnels. The air is thick, almost stifling, and Adam’s escaped pet lizards hide in holes in the mildewed books.  It is kept for sentimental reasons, but will be removed when and if a large enough contingent of Nosferatu ever makes its home.

8, 9, 10  Empty Havens

Each room has been cleaned until sparkling (so the incumbent Nosferatu can dirty it in his/her own unique way), and has been fitted with all the accoutrements of the guest rooms theme. The Nosferatu hide from humanity and preserve the masquerade for their beautiful cousins by avoidance and stealth. Deep within these recesses, the Sewer Rats have formed their own subculture and bonds within their own sub-city.
