History:

*** ooc: The following is not common character knowledge, in fact, it's not any kind of character knowledge. Toreadors interested in clan history involving their Carnivale may know that she won her immortality at such an event in 1967, but beyond that may not be known. Talk to your storyteller if you feel your character should know this.***

Kali was born in 1945 to Reiko Higashisaki and Ramnath Indrani, and raised by her mother, mainly. Her parents were both professional translators, and as such she grew up understanding both Hindi and Japanese. Most of her childhood was spent in India or Japan, and was taught English during the course of her normal schooling.

When she moved to America in 1963 she met Christian 'Cat' Stevens during her first endeavor as a tattoo artist. Though she was not immediately successful at the, Cat saw potential and encouraged her to continue in it. Under his wing she progressed rapidly, customers soon asking for original works, rather than flash. Within three years she attracted the attention of multiple Toreador, who urged her to create an ink that would stay on vampire skin. Succeeding in this the group, led by Cat, took her to Carnivale, a week long party held every 23 years by Toreadors.

As the end of the week drew near the decision for the best artist at the show was being made. Kali was chosen because of disagreement among those in charge. The decision on who was to bestow the grand prize, permanent membership to the clan of the rose, was also argued over. Cat was the likely choice, but some of the counsel wanted someone of lower generation to take care of it. A man named Caleb Yale was researched for the embrace, and promptly turned down on the grounds that he was completely mad.

Yale wouldn't let it go though, when he found he had been considered he took Kali from her hotel room in short order and embraced her. For two years after they he moved their set-up countless times to escape the notice of Cat or his retainers. Eventually he was cornered, and Kali finished, or rather started (considering her mistreatment over those years) her education in the Traditions and her nature as a vampire.

She lived in Spokane, Washington, and in Seattle until recently, when she moved to Dallas, running out of work in her prior homes. She has opened a parlor, called Caveat Emptor, and plans to monopolize the other body artists in the area, in an attempt to make more money.
